Choose a Business Name

Check the availability of your chosen business name to ensure that it is not already in use. This can usually be done through the government's business name registry.

Articles of Incorporation

Choose the province or territory where you want to register your corporation. The rules and regulations may vary slightly depending on the jurisdiction. Prepare and file the Articles of Incorporation with the provincial or territorial government. This document includes essential information about your corporation, such as its name, registered office address, the number of shares, and the names and addresses of the initial directors. Appoint individuals to serve as directors for your corporation. Directors are responsible for managing the corporation and making important decisions. Decide on the structure of shares for your corporation. This includes determining the number of authorized shares and their classes.

Provide the registered office address and the name and address of a registered agent. The registered office is the official address where legal documents can be served, and the registered agent is an individual or company responsible for receiving legal documents on behalf of the corporation.

Register for Business Number

After incorporation, you'll need to register for a Business Number with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This number is used for various tax-related purposes. Ensure ongoing compliance with government regulations, such as filing annual reports, holding annual meetings, and maintaining accurate corporate records.
